Limited range of Shades

Prone to looking "Cakey" depending on application
Suitable for younger Normal/Dry Combination skin. (I say younger because this will definatly settle into lines) This foundation has a lovely satin finish giving skin a healthy sheen but I would recommend powdering through the centre of the face to prevent any unwanted extra shine. It's definatly a foundation which lends itself more to the "glowy" end of the spectrum without being mega shiny. If you have full blown Oily skin, give this foundation a skip.
Essence claims that their "Stay All Day" Foundation is a long lasting and light weight make-up which provides a flawless silky complexion that lasts all day. Easy to apply due to the Soft texture and dermatologically approved.
I agree the foundation has a very lightweight feel and soft texture but the lasting power is nothing to be marvelled at. Throughout the day I noticed it tended to wear off in certain areas such as the T-Zone but become patchy around the cheeks, nose and most definatly the eyebrows!
Therefore, good prep is the secret to making the most of this foundation. Ensure skin is clean and moisturised (any dry patches will be named and shamed!!) and for slightly more normal/slightly oily skin a good face primer is a must!
Application plays a vital role in the outcome of this foundation. Whether you use a a standard foundation brush or your hands make sure you really buff the foundation into the skin at the hairline, jawline and around the nose to avoid the unattractive "ringworm" effect!. This foundation has a slightly thick consistency and tends to set so you may want to work quickly or your make up will end up looking very cakey. I personally like to use my hands to apply and buff into the skin and then use a tiny dot on a foundation brush just in the areas I need more coverage.
Overall thoughts:
Personally I quite like this foundation. I love the finish it gives especially during winter when my skin tends to become really dry but I wouldn't say it was a holy grail product. Lately during the good weather (good for Ireland anyway! lol) I find it is lovely to mix with a bit of moisturiser to create a tinted moisturiser for when I want a little less coverage.
If your a student on a tight budget with some skill in blending foundation nicely I would say the Essence "Stay All Day" foundation is a good choice.
*Please note all the above opinions are my own and are based on my own experiance with this foundation. Obviously as with any product, your experiance will vary depending on your own skin type and application techniques.
I hope this article has helped and let me know what you think :)
Bye! xxx
